Magnolia Boulevard is a band that should be on every country music fan’s radar.
Hailing from Lexington, KY, a music scene that has produced so many of country music’s heavy hitters, Magnolia Boulevard is a soulful country rock group that demands your attention. Falling somewhere between Tedeschi Trucks Band and 49 Winchester, the band’s “rock-n-soul” sound is bolstered by the spectacular vocals of frontwoman Maggie Noelle, and their songs set the scene for the highs and lows of navigating life in Kentucky.
Forming back in 2017, the five-piece band has released quite a few singles and EPs over the years, but they have yet to release a full length record. Until now. Slated for release on Friday, Magnolia Boulevard’s self-titled debut record is an absolute force to be reckoned with, featuring eight must-hear tracks that prove just how underrated they are.
While a handful of singles have already been released to build anticipation for the full record, one of my favorite tracks on the album is the unreleased tune “Nomad,” and the band is letting us give you an early listen of it before the whole album drops. In a quote provided exclusively to Whiskey Riff, Noelle provided some context behind the unreleased “Nomad.”
“‘Nomad’ is a reflection of the people we come from, the stories we never fully knew, and the pieces of them we carry without realizing. It’s my bittersweet acceptance of what was, what wasn’t, and the peace I’ve learned to make for myself. This song sheds a light on the learning of letting go with grace and still holding love for the parts that linger.”
In addition to Noelle, Magnolia Boulevard is comprised of Ryan Allen on the keys, Roddy Puckett on bass, Austin Lewis slinging guitar, and Brandon Johnson holding it down on the drums. Together, these musicians make for an extremely talented band, and their chops on their respective instrument are on full display in their debut album.
Check out the tracklist for Magnolia Boulevard below, and if you haven’t already, give a few of the other singles the band has released thus far off the album a listen as well. And don’t forget to mark your calendars for the full release this Friday, November 28.
